1836 Officer's Quarters The home you are about to tour was constructed in 1836 as a military officer's home in the Springfield Armory. In the 1960's, the Armory became the site of Springfield Technical Community College. Since that time, the officer's home, called Quarters 8 has housed Admissions, Veteran's Affairs, Student Activities and most recently, the Professional Development Center for Faculty and Staff (PDC). A great deal of volunteer work went into transforming a pretty damaged house into a center piece for campus professional development and as a place for the campus community to "get together."
