1836 Officer's Quarters

The repaired living room of the 1836 Officer's Quarters 8From Officer's Quarters
to Professional Development Center

The home you are about to tour was constructed in 1836 as a military officer's home in the Springfield Armory.  In the 1960's, the Armory became the site of Springfield Technical Community College.  Since that time, the officer's home, called Quarters 8 has housed Admissions, Veteran's Affairs, Student Activities and most recently, the Professional Development Center for Faculty and Staff (PDC).

A great deal of volunteer work went into transforming a pretty damaged house into a center piece for campus professional development and as a place for the campus community to "get together."
