1895 Modified Victorian

One wreck of a kitchen

The kitchen was an absolute wreck.  All appliances had been removed except a dishwasher that was hard wired and welded to the electrical and plumbing systems.  Metal cabinets and stainless steel sink countertop is on one side with wooden cabinets on the opposite.  I tripped over the original French style cupboard doors in the basement.  At least they were not tossed out by the previous owner.

HUGE hole in kitchen wall / Repaired shot coming soon.
We were not so lucky in the kitchen as with the floors and stairs. That huge hole in the wall was created when I decided to "touch up" a bit of a loose spot of plaster.  Only took three days to fill in and then Anna papered everything in sight.

The kitchen is looking better, but we can hardly wait to do a total make over.

When Anna began removing the old wall paper, she discovered at least two other layers.  We photographed each so that one day, when we are rich, we can have them reproduced.  The largest piece of paper shown is the believed to be original to the house when it was built in 1895.

Anna is standing in the archway between the butler's pantry and the kitchen.  The pantry is now a breakfast room.
