1924 Rochester, NY House OHNE has been invited (after a lot of pleading) to follow the experiences of a new home owner. He found a house built in 1924 near the heart of the city of Rochester, NY. The city may sound familiar as the home of Eastman Kodak company, maker of the first cameras for public use. Our initial visit gave us a chance to tour
the entire house from basement to attic and get a few pictures to share with
you. As we make additional trips over to Rochester, we will add more
pictures and more information The first floor large living room has a fireplace with a small built-in bookcase to the left. Most of the base and door trim appears to be gum wood and in excellent condition. The owner was told the fireplace works, but he has been cautioned to have an expert check it out to make sure it is safe. For some reason, the opening is now covered by a piece of cardboard.
First order of business was to get rid of that carpet. The owner and two really good sports are shown pulling about a bazillion staples out of the floor. The staples were used to hold the carpet padding in place. This was chore and a half. Take a look at the carpet removal. Top of this page | First Floor Features | Second Floor Features |
