Leaking Roof Repair – From a homeowner’s perspective, any time a roof is leaking it is a problem that needs to be dealt with immediately. A small drip can become a deluge which can lead to more damage than many people realise at first. From rotting timbers and ceilings falling in to mould and mildew causing health related problems, it is not wise to delay a leaking roof repair.
Although some repairs are quite minor and can be taken care of in a single day, others are more time-consuming and may require extensive portions of the roof being replaced or an entire reroofing job. Sometimes the damage is caused by falling limbs from trees whilst other times the roof is just old and eco roof tiles begin lifting due to age. No matter how large or small the problem is, a homeowner cannot afford to let it go without having a qualified roofer do a thorough inspection.
Too many times it is assumed that it is just a small leak which can be handled easily by a handyman. Unfortunately, unless a licensed roofer climbs up to inspect the wooden batten below, any timbers and of course any water which may be ponding in the loft. Roofing contractors should be consulted with based on their qualifications rather than cost, but it is possible to find affordable roofers who are Trustmark Approved and members in good standing of organisations such as the National Federation of Roofing Contractors.
It is never safe to assume that a small leak will not be a big problem because the roof is a barrier between the inhabitants and the elements. The ultimate goal is to keep rain out and if a small leak is allowed to go unattended, the damage could be severe to the tune of tens of thousands of pounds.
