The
Pansy (Viola) is hardier than I was raised to believe. They can be used
almost any way you wish, as borders, hanging baskets, flower boxes or as
accents amidst other non-flowering plants.
For years I thought Johnny Jump Ups were an entirely different plant
even though the pansy looks similar. Turns out it is just the
coloration that makes Johnny look like it has a face. Johnny also has a lot smaller bloom. Zones 5-10

There
is nothing like a rose to punch up the color in a yard. This
particular plant is at the edge of a corner next to the sidewalk.
People going past sometimes pick a bud, but it is worth having this
beautiful rose as a cornerstone of the yard.

Bleeding
Heart (Dicentra) from Asian and North America. Frost hardy and
needs light shade with humus rich soil, well drained.
Propagate from seed in fall or by division in late winter.
Blooms better with winter chill.

I
wonder if there is a more beautiful spring flower than the
iris.
This could be iris germanica variety biliotti
